Welcome to Alford House Bed and Breakfast, a family run B&B situated in the picturesque village of Corfe Castle. The village is central to the Isle of Purbeck, an ideal location from which to explore the many nearby places of interest, including: the sandy beaches at Studland and Swanage, Wareham, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and the Jurassic Coast (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Alford House is on the Purbeck Way, a named footpath leading around the area, and adjoins Corfe Common with almost 500 acres of open heathland, the largest Common in Dorset. Road cycling and mountain biking are very popular in the area and we have storage for bicycles if you wish to bring your own. Purbeck is enjoyed by all those with a love of the outdoors including walkers, cyclists, golfers, anglers, photographers and climbers. There is also a full range of watersports available in the area including sailing, windsurfing, diving and coasteering.
Alford House dates back to the 17th Century and, until the mid 1980s, the property was a local grocery store known as Driscoll's. Alford House was recently refurbished by ourselves, and we now live in one part of the house with a separate area for B&B. For guests there is private, off-road parking and your own private entrance into the house. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about a stay at Alford House.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. What a beautiful and cosy home. I have never slept in a more comfortable bed! The local eggs for breakfast were a real treat. We will be back! Emily and Johnnie, London .
Our second stay at Alford House; just as comfortable, just as welcoming, just as friendly. Exceptionally good breakfasts and, as ever, nothing is too much trouble. A wonderful place to return to after a hard day battling the breeze on the beaches at Studland. Richard, Julia and William.
A beautiful home and warm welcome. Breakfast was of the highest standard. Perfect, everything we needed. We will return. Sally and Ian.
